Greetings to All Chamber Friends:
All of us at Chamber Music Society of St. Louis hope you will join us in wishing our favorite Maestro, Leonard Slatkin, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY on this September 1.
You can salute the occasion by tuning in to Classic 107.3 for The Chamber At Home on Saturday afternoon at 4pm or the rebroadcast on Tuesday morning at 10am. This week’s broadcast features the wind instruments in ”The Winds Blow Back” with Leonard Slatkin conducting music by Gounod, Dvo?ák and Stravinsky. Details are HERE.
If you choose to listen at the Saturday time, be aware that the start time can vary (earlier or later) depending on the length of the opera, which precedes The Chamber At Home.
It is only a matter of weeks until we open our 15th Anniversary Season with Guest Artist Nicholas McGegan and “Romancing The Baroque”. Note that Nic’s appearance on September 18 with CMSSL will be his only concert this year in St. Louis. He will lead CMSSL musicians in a program of music that includes a much-loved keyboard concerto by Bach with harpsichordist Charles Metz and a concerto for 2 horns by Telemann with soloists Roger Kaza and Thomas Jöstlein. Rounding out the program are 2 enchanting symphonies, Haydn #83 and Schubert #5. You can find information HERE.
I hope everyone has a restful and safe Labor Day Weekend,
Marc
Beautiful music, expertly played, wonderfully programmed! An intimate venue that provides a chance to really get to know the musicians and hear them up close, the way chamber music was meant to be heard. A great addition to the St. Louis music scene.
I really enjoyed the concert Monday. Nice camera work and sound.
Keep up the great work with the Chamber!!! A real gift.
It’s the music! It’s the venue! But wait: it’s also my tablemates!! Can you imagine…… organizes the programs and performers, but also devises a seating chart? I can’t imagine having 2 more compatible listening companions than the ones I’ve met…..! Thank you, CMSSL, for inspiring concerts, and thank you, ………, for just plain fun! Barbara, Ladue
We deeply appreciate Chamber Music Society and the exquisite music they perform. Thank you for all the lovely music you have brought us over the years. We look forward to many more.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the concert and I look forward to attending more Chamber music Society events”
Thank you for a fantastic evening.
These concerts have been even better than I imagined. My hat off to your engineer- the sound quality exceeded that of most CDs I own of this repertoire. I also applaud Peter Henderson for tackling the Liszt this week. Thank you all so much for bringing so much light in these trying times.
The concert was just thrilling. Loved the pianist. Adored the Dvorak. Happy to see Leonard in such an intimate setting. Terrific evening! Thanks.
Many thanks… for a very professionally presented performance of endearing music with the very best musicians.
